Tom’s Story

A Simple Bus Card That Changed Everything

When Tom (not his real name) walked through our doors, the weight of months of uncertainty hung heavy on him. After losing his long-term job at the University of Minnesota due to budget cuts, he had done everything he could to provide for his wife and three children – including a young daughter battling leukemia. But with no income and no food left at home, hope was dwindling.

To protect privacy, this is a representative photo and not the actual individual.

Finally, Tom received a promising job offer at the airport. All he needed was to return for fingerprinting and badge approval – his last step before starting work. But he didn’t have bus fare to get there. Missing that appointment meant losing the job entirely.

Because of your generosity, he didn’t have to.

After verifying the opportunity, Jericho Road staff provided groceries for his family and a bus card so he could make it to his onboarding appointment. In that moment, you could see the transformation – his shoulders lifted, his face softened, and gratitude filled the room. Tom thanked the Lord, relieved to finally take a step forward for his family.

Your support didn’t just provide transportation. It helped Tom move from crisis toward stability, dignity, and Christ-centered hope.
